About

As a multimedia journalist, I am passionate about inspiring and being inspired by others. I enjoy exploring new ideas and sharing them through various mediums, including video, audio, and written content.

Hi there, I am Bastian. Born in Aachen, Germany, in 1993, I have been working as a journalist for over ten years, reporting from various European countries, the Middle East, and South America. My focus is on issues that matter the most to me, such as global politics and security, social inequality, and cohesion. My work has been published by major media outlets such as Germany’s largest public broadcaster ARD, Deutschlandfunk, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and others.

I studied Journalism at TU Dortmund University and International Affairs at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals, equipping me with a strong foundation in journalism principles and techniques, as well as a comprehensive understanding of global politics and governance.

With several years of experience in broadcast journalism and digital communications, I also conduct workshops for students and young journalists on various topics, including multimedia reporting, social media storytelling, and detecting fake news.

Since 2021, I have been volunteering for the NGO GermanDream, engaging in dialogues with school children across Germany on the core principles of the German Basic Law, such as equality, the rule of law, and freedom of expression.
